ID/Title: Athy Annals 1918
Date: 1918
Creator: Sisters of Mercy, Athy Convent
Description: An annals entry from the Sisters of Mercy at the Athy Convent in Athy, Co. Kildare, Ireland. This entry notes that during the year 1918 the English Parliament extended conscription to Ireland. The Catholics Hierarchy declared the decree “an unjust law which the Irish people had a right to resist by all means consonant with the Law of God.” Later in the year the Sisters note the great rejoicing in Ireland and around the world, after Armistice was declared.
